What does MAC do with the used/returned cosmetics? I know it doesn't get re-sold.?

Honestly, I wouldn't mind buying the used cosmetics at a discounted price. Of course I would disinfect the surface with a spray of some sort. I returned a compact foundation powder the other day and I was just curious as to what MAC does with them. =)
