12 month old will not eat solids?

my boy is going to be 12 months old in a week. I still have not been able to get him to eat any food. I feed him 4 times during the day and also 2 times in the night. i have tried offering him finger foods, cereal, let him eat off my plate, baby food, home-made food...EVERYTHING i know of, have heard about but he still refuses. It is not that he cannot chew...he likes to eat gerber puffs, wagon wheels and lil pieces of bread but it is not much...what am I doing wrong? the Paed put him on iron supplements. has anyone ever faced a situation like this?
